Twitter is huge and getting GINORMOUS! It seems that everyone is writing about ways to get more followers. Here are a few tips that will help you to get more Twitter followers.
Tip #1: Get your name listed with Twitter Directories such as JustTweetIt, WeFollow and Twibes will increase your visibility and attract more followers.
Tip #2: Match your Twitter Theme with your Blog Theme and your Website Theme and yor MySpace and your Facebook, etc. List all your info in the back ground. It may not be clickable but at lest it is listed!
Tip #3: Be PROactive! ReTweet interesting articles. Start conversations. Join conversations. But remember the PRO part of that- BE PROFESSIONAL!
Tip #4: Don't just post links to your site! Post links to other peoples sites. People tend to return the favor. However, Don't post links to sites you have not actually seen, this could assoicate you with poor content!

Interesting advice--I disagree with your "tweet often" idea, though. I like people who throw out fewer, but better quality tweets and will unfollow "noisy" tweeters. People who tweet too much take up the twitterstream without adding value.
ReplyDeleteTweet is not like chat, how do you find people who share the same interest as you.

very interesting, thank's for the advice!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tips - I have found them very helpful - it is interesting just trying to keep my posts brief - and something of value while being brief...!!!
ReplyDeleteGood share, however regarding Tip#9 I'd recommend not to ask your followers to spread the word about you. Better try to find targeted followers, who are matching your area of interest. Then keep tweeting on a regular basis, and your active followers will RT or mention @you in their tweets. That is in my opinion the right way to attract even more targeted followers.
ReplyDeleteI personally know of some business friends who are using humingbird [ http://twurl.nl/yjjjch ] as a tool to build a strong line of targeted followers. That does the job excellent and more or less fully automated. However, I prefer the old fashioned handmade way.
Great info. I have already adjusted my approach to tweets.
ReplyDeleteTo find other tweeps with similar interests, you can use Twitter's search and type in keywords. Or use some of the tools - "nearbytweets" finds people by location. TweetScan and TwitterTroll are 2 apps that let you search tweets to find who is talking about what you are interested in.
ReplyDeleteBest Twitter Analogy: Twitter is like Headline News.

Thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeletemonkeyberry, to find people with similar interests, you can simply type the subject into the search box. If you are interested in Michelle Obama's fashion choices, type something like "Obama fashion" into the search and you will find other people talking about that. Also you can try some of these tips:

monkeyberry, you can find people with similar interests by typing the name of the interest into the search box. It will pull up everyone who is talking about that issue. Also you can try some of these tips: http://tinyurl.com/d59dqf
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome to follow me @tisawhite
Thanks for the tips. I tweet often and not always 'value' - I like to fool around too and follow animal characters.
ReplyDeleteYou can find people of your interest by using search.twitter.com and if you key in the keywords of your target audience, it will display all the tweet.

It's especially important to not tweet too frequently if you have another account that shows cumulative status updates like Facebook tied to your Twitter account.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with the followee-followers ratio matching. It doesn't indicate that you are interactive, it just makes it harder to identify useful tweets from people you know and trust. If people want to converse with you, they can use the @ replies.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all the tips...
ReplyDeleteAnother thing you can do to add followers is to be active in chats. By participating in a hash tag (#) conversation and contributing that way you are either becoming an expert in a given situation or are passionate about a certain team or event. This will help you find a mentor or get better advice. Great way to participate either way.
New on Twitter, looking to be a better follower & to find followers. What is the best way?
ReplyDelete@monkeyberry...one good way of finding people that share the same interests is using http://search.twitter.com...say for instance am a Jets fan - I can type that into the searcjh field and the query displays all conversations with the Jets in it. If you like the conversation, join it. You have to tweet often as well to enable other people find you as well.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice! I Tweet a lot, and I follow people who tweet a lot!
ReplyDeleteNice to see a post with genuine tips on how to increase your twitter followers without resorting to spam! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGood article! We must have been thinking a lot of the same things at the same time about Twitter!
ReplyDeleteI gained a couple tips I didn't think about. Thanks for the ideas!
ReplyDeleteYou left out the tip to find someone you like and look to see who they are following. Look for ones that interest you and then follow those people.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there is tweeting often, and there is tweeting too much. Find a balance.
Nice suggestions and helpful comments, too =)
ReplyDeleteI like a balance, like Anonymous above. And I don't follow everyone who follows me. It makes it too hard to sift through the junk.
Thx for the help!
great content. thanks for the help.
